A newbie to the Artists Open House scene, I started with a bang!
.
I am lucky to come from a giant family of extraordinary creatives. We are artists, printmakers, potters, knitters, sculptors, graphic designers, interior designers, architects, musicians, draughtsmen, writers, and professors.
.
I invited three from the family, all female members, all seasoned Open-House Artists - to join me in opening up my home in Hanover, Brighton, for the first time (We have since moved at Christmas 2019, to our first dream house on Southampton Street!).
.
This all started when a group of us were camping in France back in August 2019.
.
I mentioned to my cousin Bryony, a textile sculptor, that I was doing the Christmas Artists Open Houses and I was over the moon and flattered when she asked if she could join me. Bry has been a pioneer in textile sculpture and has been wrapping, folding, stitching and stuffing her Textile Menagerie since the early noughties.
.
Surrounded by artists, knitters, potters, French  wine and cheese (and more wine!) around the campfire, Bry and I invited others to join us.
.
"I'm in!", said Auntie Sarah!
An experienced art lecturer and potter, Sarah runs The Studio at Stansted Park in Rowlands Castle, Hampshire. With her functioning decorative ceramic wares, Sarah was the perfect addition.
.
The final compliment to complete the collective was Mum, Kate, an accomplished artist and graphic designer, and her latest works, a sophisticated intricate collection of miniature abstracts which explore colour and scale.
.
Along with my debut collection of Pop Art screen prints, Relish Art Studio presented, Bryony Rose Jennings' Textile Menagerie, Sarah Sykes' ceramics and Kate Thorpe's, abstract miniatures.
.
We welcomed a party of 40 guests for a fab evening of fizz and dips at my house for our private view for behind-the-scenes conversations of inspiration, Christmas shopping, and of course, a tipple or two!
