Known as the Blue Parrot, I’m sure you’ll agree with Charles Darwin who described the Hyacinth Macaw as a ‘splendid bird' with an ‘enormous beak’. Fondly referred to as "gentle giants”, these even-tempered creatures are the longest parrot by length in the world, measuring in at up to 3.5 feet. Interestingly, the hyacinth macaw depends on the toucan, for its livelihood. Toucans contribute largely to seed dispersal of the manduvi tree in which the parrots build nests in the ancient trunks hollows to raise their chicks.
Syd’s backdrop is inspired by Farrow and Ball's lovely dusty pink colour, ’Nancy’s Blushes’. Syd’s feathers are distinctive of the iconic 'Cobalt Blue' by Designers Guild complimented with the accents of Little Greene’s brightest yellow, 'Mister David’ to define his eyes and cheeks. His deep inky eye and the definition of his feathers are finished in Mars Black.
